Todays’ prompt, edible, should be a fun one to play with. The word comes from the Latin verb edere ‘eat,’ but unlike truly appetizing food, it seems to suggest something you can eat without fear of intoxication or worse, something just fit for your consumption but with no guarantee you will actually enjoy it. I chose this illustration of dandelions because when I was a child, my parents and grandparents would often make salads with the leaves and I absolutely hated it. Not just because the taste was extremely bitter, but because in French, dandelion is called pissenlit–which is a portmanteau of piss-in-bed. Yeah. Bon appetit.
