So many definitions, idioms or phrases in reference to today’s prompt, eye! Even more so in French…eyes are not just organs of vision. One of my favorite interpretations is what we French call the little spots of fat that float to the surface of the pot when bouillion cools down. In Terre, Emile Zola writes, “La soupe était froide, couverte d’yeux de graisse qui se figeaient” (the soup was cold, covered with greasy congealed eyes); not too appetizing!
